Crafting Community, One Cup at a Time
Pleasant Cafe

Coffee, Tea, Comfort and Community
About
Pleasant Cafe is more than just a coffee shop — it’s a welcoming space where coffee, tea, comfort, and community come together. As part of the Somali Youth and Family Development Center (SOMFAM), our cafe extends the mission of nurturing a vibrant, healthy, and prosperous Somali community in Minnesota.
Every cup you enjoy helps support programs that empower Somali youth and families through mentoring, education, and community engagement. Whether you’re here to connect with friends, focus on work, or simply relax, Pleasant Cafe offers a warm atmosphere that celebrates culture, fosters togetherness, and uplifts our community.
At Pleasant Cafe, your coffee does more than energize you — it fuels opportunities, growth, and hope for the Somali and greater Twin Cities communities.

Our Vision
To create a welcoming space where coffee and culture bring people together, fostering connection, growth, and opportunity within the Somali and greater Twin Cities community.
Our Mission
At Pleasant Cafe, we provide more than great coffee — we create pathways for success. By offering job opportunities to high school students, college students, and youth who struggle to find work elsewhere, along with women in our community, we empower individuals with skills, confidence, and income. Through every cup served, we bring people closer, strengthen community ties, and build brighter futures together.

Where Work Meets Community
At Pleasant Cafe, every job is more than work — it’s a step toward opportunity. We proudly hire high school students and women from our Somali community, giving them a chance to gain valuable skills, earn income, and build confidence in a supportive environment.
By creating these pathways, our cafe helps young people explore careers, develop leadership, and prepare for future success, while empowering women with greater financial independence and opportunities for growth.
When you see a smiling face behind the counter, you’re not just meeting a barista — you’re meeting someone building a brighter future for themselves and our community.
